About

Building Native Communities: Investing for the Future is a culturally-relevant investor education curriculum geared toward Native communities. It is designed to teach basic investing concepts in a culturally sensitive manner.  As wealth grows for Native nations, more and more individuals are receiving lump sum payments due to lawsuit settlements, minor’s trust payments, and per capita payments.

The 2nd edition of Building Native Communities: Investing for the

Future curriculum is now available!

The 2nd edition of Building Native Communities: Investing for the Future has 3 main sections:

  • Step1: Getting Started - This section covers basic investing concepts and how to tell if you are ready to invest.
  • Step 2: Stocks and Bonds - This section covers different types of investment vehicles and basic investing strategies.
  • Step 3: Putting the Pieces Together - This section helps the student take what they have learned and design an investment strategy that is right for them.

The Building Native Communities: Investing for the Future curriculum was created with support from the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. To receive a copy of the newly-revised workbook, email Sarah Dewees at sdewees@firstnations.org
